Simulation - Pretty much everything is broken. The 2.0 patch is coming out on Monday, but the main problems are still there.Ĭities size - super small. The new SimCity on the othere had, I played (tried at least) a lot! Now, I can't tell you much about SimCity 4 (I'm planing to buy it after I finish this message), I played it long time ago and can't say much. In fact, it pretty much tells you to go F yourself. However be aware that it may not run on your comp and it tends to crash every now and then and not to mention that it is a hard game that wont hold your hand. Tl dr: Get Sim City 4, it has aged pretty well, has libraries of mods, a dedicated fan base, a very in depth game and the biggest thing over the new one, offline mode. You could argue, "yeah it's a new game, give it some time" but really, why chance it? Now on the other hand, as it is new, you can probably get it to run on your new Comps unless the server shuts down and stuff. Nothing I can say will add to what has already been said it had a lot of potential but a series of bad and stupid decisions pretty much crippled the game. As many trolls and griefers there are, you can always find help if you know where to look. But dont let that deter you, this is the Internet. For example, looking up basic urban planning will save you frustrations) or else you will just fail. You have to know what you are doing, you have to plan it before you start doing anything (Yes I mean it. It is definitely not a "casual" game where you can just pop it in and build a metropolis in a matter of hours. I have said it once and I will say it again: Sim City 4 is hard. Another that may put you off as a new player is well, the difficulty curve. Another is that the game is pretty unstable namely it crashes every now and then so you have to save often (You can get a mod that autosaves). Now I am using Windows 7 and I have seen it being played on Windows 8 just something to have in mind. Now as a 10 year old game, I have seen threads and posts on people whining that they can't play it. Now on to the other side on why not to buy Sim City 4. It has quite a learning curve but once you cross it, the quote "You never stop playing SC4" comes to mind. It is pretty in depth but to level that is barely playable Sim City 4 is not a game for the impatient. Even after 10 years, the game has aged pretty well with its generally good design and more importantly, 10 years worth of mods especially must have such as the Network Addition Mod or NAM. There is a reason as to why Sim City 4 is hailed as the best Sim City game of all time (You can argue but that is for another time), and it definitely shows. Sure, Sim City 2013 had potential but they've pretty killed it with a combination of very bad customer service (Namely openly lying) and of course, the infamous always "Most definitely not DRM" online requirement. SimCity 4 will give you a more full, in depth experience that's more in line with the other SimCity games and I feel it's better than SimCity 2013, I just haven't put a lot of time into it to become proficient at playing it.In all honesty, get Sim City 4. If you want an easier, more laid back game and are willing to put up with bugs and annoyances, I'd recommend SC 2013. If you've been enjoying SC 2000 a lot I'd recommend SC 4. The game is generally more difficult and has much more learning involved with it. Speaking in terms of mods, SC 4 is far, far more moddable than SC 2013 is. There's some bugs with SC 4 too, but not nearly as many bugs as SC 2013, and the ones that are there aren't as annoying and are largely fixed with mods. SimCity 4 is a much more expansive game, and everything that you can do in SimCity 2013 in an entire region, you can do within a single city in SimCity 4 with a drastically larger amount of space to build cities in, with more places to build cities. Some annoying bugs and inaccuracies with how many people the game says your city has, but nothing game breaking. There's a long list of bugs the game has, but in the amount of time I've been playing it recently (about 12 hours for a YT series) I haven't ran into anything game breaking. Generally speaking you can load the game and get an alright city going fairly quickly. SimCity 2013 is a more approachable, easy experience.
